Why give your time to Bridges?
More than 22 million adults volunteer their time for free to help in their local community or further afield. Like many community organisations, Bridges relies on volunteers to survive. It was a group of volunteers who had the vision and determination to create Bridges, and now it has grown, it is volunteers who continue to be the driving force behind our organisation.
Just a few hours of your time can really make a difference. Here are just a few reasons why our volunteers give their time to Bridges:
“I think it makes for a better community and society if we all give a bit. I can’t do much but I do what I can, and at Bridges my little bit of help can benefit so many different people.”
“Bridges provides a wonderful base for community groups such as ours – I just want to give something back.”
“I like meeting people and making friends, and if I can help out along the way, even better!”
“Bridges provides care and support for people who suffer difficulties in their lives through illness, isolation, age, or disability. I’d like to feel that if I’m in need, Bridges will be there to help me.”
“But what can I offer?”
… that’s something people often ask when they’re thinking of volunteering.
In fact, EVERYONE has something to offer.
You could help us distribute leaflets, staff our reception during weekday evenings, take part in working parties, sit on one of our committees, help arrange activities for older people at COMIC … there are all sorts of ways in which you could lend a hand.
You don’t need to have experience or skills – but if you have, we’ll find a use for them!
Show you care – help Bridges and make a difference in your community.
